Wisdom teeth removed. Separated the "clot." Doomed?

What the heck have I done?! I had all of my wisdom teeth extracted 11 days ago. After I ate today, I went to rinse with the syringe and it appeared as if I had food in both bottom holes so I poked at one with the syringe, trying to get it out... Well now the thing - whatever it is - is hanging on by a freaking thread and when it flaps, I can see a big hole behind it. This big hole tells me that the white substance wasn't food, but some kind of protection as the teeth is still healing. How the heck was I supposed to know that?! It didn't hurt or bleed when I poked it. Now I'm scared to even drink water or swish with salt water because the thing is going to float away. What the heck have I done??? And can I still get dry socket? I gently pushed it back into place, but one good sneeze and the sucker's coming loose. Again... What the heck have I done?!
